Who we are

Hello!

We are Marcsi and Bálint, the hosts of Guesthouse Felhő. We partially moved to Keszthely in 2020, and since then we have been doing all the work regarding hosting in our house. We are new to tourism at Lake Balaton and would like to go beyond the traditional approach with a guest house where everything serves the comfort of guests looking for easy relaxation in perfect quality.

We both work full-time in the IT field, so it’s a relevant question: why did we start operating the accommodation? Back in 2016, on a holiday in Austria, we met Debbie and Trevor, who, fed up with their London office careers and the treadmill that came with it, had a thought, packed up, and in their mid-forties started a new life in Austria as caterers. They were really nice and capable hosts who were happy to tell stories about their daily lives. It was then that we first came up with the idea that it would be worthwhile for us to try ourselves in such a business of our own and to use the knowledge we have gained in other areas.

Based on the feedback from our guests so far, we are on the right track to offer a comfortable and welcoming holiday destination for all those who want just that. If you are one of them, visit us in Keszthely. We look forward to seeing you!

If only we could buy a timeshare at the Guesthouse Felho, we would definitely do it. It is not worth going anywhere else for holiday with the dog, we certainly could not find a better place than this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we have three designated parking spaces. Be sure to let us know in advance if you want to park in the garden. If there is no longer space inside, there is nothing to lose either, there are always empty spaces in the parking lot opposite the house.

Our guesthouse does not have the necessary permits for catering, so we cannot provide breakfast or other meals. We can recommend pleasant breakfast places and there are several large supermarkets in our immediate vicinity.

There is a covered, lockable bike rack in the garden. Let us know if you’d like to use it. It can accommodate up to eight bikes.

You can’t, dogs are the only animals we accommodate, but you can come with more than one dog.

Yes, the dog can be left alone in the room, but it is important that he bears this well. Our hearts would be broken if we had to hear his crying and this would presumably bother the other guests as well. If you are afraid that the dog will damage something while you are away, bring a kennel and close him instead, because you are responsible for any damage caused. By the way, there are plenty of dog-friendly places in Keszthely: restaurants, cafes and a dog beach too! So, you could go to a bunch of places together.

You can check in from 3 p.m., in case you want to arrive earlier, be sure to contact us and we will try to find a solution.

The accommodation shall be left by 10 a.m. Late check-out is also possible for an additional fee, just indicate your intentions in advance, as a lot depends on when the next guest arrives at the property. Your packages can be stored free of charge if necessary.

At the house you cannot charge a car, but opposite the parking lot there is an electric car charger.

You can’t grill because we don’t have the equipment you need. If you bring your own grill, then the situation is different. We have cauldrons and bacon frying skewers, these are available for free. A package of firewood costs 2500 HUF.

The accommodation is very close to the shops and very good restaurants. What made our holiday really special was that we were able to bring our dog, who was very welcomed by our hosts

We went with a bigger kid and a smaller kid. We had everything we needed during our stay. Very clean rooms, nicely arranged yard. The first place to stay where the whole family, from small to large, slept well. A separate advantage is that everything is nearby. Across the road are all the shops, shops, Bubbles laundry. We had a great time! We will definitely be back! We would like to thank you!

Our hosts, Mary and Bálint, were so friendly and hospitable that we felt like old friends. We rented a bike from them for two days and cycled around the lake, it was the highlight of our trip!
